How to Make an AI Movie
Making an AI movie is still filmmaking. The tools change, but the core job remains: choose a story, direct each creative decision, assemble the strongest material, and earn the audience's attention.
1. Define the story and visual rules
Write a short treatment before generating video. Define the protagonist, objective, setting, tone, aspect ratio, color palette, and recurring visual details. A clear creative bible reduces inconsistency later.
2. Break the story into shots
Turn scenes into a shot list. Generate reference images for characters and locations, then create short video clips with deliberate framing, movement, action, and duration. Save prompts and seed or reference settings when the tool supports them.
3. Build sound and performance
Dialogue, ambience, effects, and music carry much of a film's emotion. Record performers when possible, obtain permission for any replicated voice, and keep clear records of licenses for music and assets.
4. Edit, disclose, and release
Edit for story rather than displaying every generated shot. Disclose meaningful AI use, credit human collaborators, confirm platform and festival rules, and create a permanent film page audiences can find and share.
